Many women decided to stay in the house with their kids and gave up their careers or the chance to have a career because they choose to be full time mothers. 20 or 10 years ago, a stay at home mom doesn’t have any chance of starting a career while they are at home, but because of the changes brought to us by the Internet, this was made possible.
A lot of moms right now got the chance to work at the comfort of their owns homes using the Internet as a Virtual Assistant. Although this can really be a great opportunity to start a promising career, it can also be very challenging because you need to balance your time properly to be able to fulfill your responsibilities to your family as well as to your clients, plus other extra activities you need to get done.
Here are some points that you have to remember in starting a career as WAHM (Work at home mom)
Prioritize your family
Don’t forget that your first priority will always be your family so you have to consider their welfare first. Manage your time properly and don’t sacrifice the time that you spend with your kids. In the first place, they are the reason why you decided to stay home.
Make sure to have a strong support system
Support system is very important if you will work at home especially if you have babies or small kids. You need to get a reliable babysitter or maybe a relative who would be willing to stay with your kids in your working hours. By doing this, you are assured that they are well taken care of and their needs are met. At the same time, you can also concentrate with your work and you will be at peace because you don’t have to worry about them all the time.
Set a realistic working hours
As a work at home mom, especially with babies around, its quite hard to work for 8 hours a day. This might be possible for moms who’s kids are attending school already. In setting your working hours consider a lot of things. If you think you can’t commit 40 hours a week then don’t because it is also unfair for your client if you cannot deliver what you have promised.
Set a Special Time for Yourself
After all the hard work, the multitasking and responsibilities you have everybody, you definitely deserve a break. So go set a special where you can do what you love to do. Pamper yourself and don’t feel guilty about it. You can have a relaxing massage or maybe you would love to have a movie or go to the salon. Anything that can help you alleviate your stress and regain energy. Don’t hesitate to do this for yourself because you are worth it.
Any mom who have the courage to take the challenge and who knows the proper way of organizing and managing her time can definitely be successful as a work at home mom. All you need is to take that decision and you are good to go. Make your family your ultimate inspiration and you will never fail.
